It really shouldn’t be revolutionary, but if you have extra wide feet you know how impossible it can be to find shoes that fit. Barefoot boots (while foot-shaped and a significant step in the right direction) come in all shapes and widths and many are not extra wide friendly. That combined with the fact that size charts don’t tell you the full story, make it extra difficult to determine which brands will fit those of us with the widest of toes.
So we’ve put together our years of shoe testing and customer feedback to give you this list of the best barefoot boots for extra wide feet!
Please keep in mind that “extra wide” is a subjective term. And your foot shape also affects what will fit you. You know your feet best, so we’ve included as many fit details as possible to help guide you. And we’ve identified which of these are wide, but with a thicker sole! For reference, my feet are 23.5cm long x 10cm wide.
The Best Extra Wide Boots On The Market
Shapen (EU) – A great selection of stylish boots that are also practical for winter! They typically have a high volume fit, and fit wide and extra wide feet well. This is the brand I wear most on a daily basis.

Gaucho Ninja – Thick-soled option. These heritage boots have a very high end look to them and I’ve worn my lace-up pair a ton. With a Goodyear-welted outsole and vegetable-tanned leather, they can last a long time and be repaired if needed! They’re heftier than most brands on this list, and won’t be as flexible – especially at first.
High volume feet might struggle to get the Chelsea style on, but the removeable insole does make them adjustable for most foot volumes.

El Naturalista – Thick-soled option. I was surprised these worked for me! While cushioned, they are lighter weight and more flexible than they appear and that heel is only an illusion. Even though they are extra wide across the toe box, they might not work for all extra wide feet – especially square.

Lems Chelsea Suede – Thick-soled option. Not all Lems will work, but the suede Chelsea boot in particular is extra roomy, and the one we recommend as truly extra wide. We also recommend sizing up a half or potentially a full size (if you’re high volume too) because they run on the smaller side.
Origo Adventurer – Another heritage leather boot, but this one has a really minimal outsole for maximum flexibility. Excellent toe space, with a slimmer midfoot and heel. One of the best options here for extra wide but low volume feet.

Lang. S Kombat & Luna boots –Thick-soled option in the Kombat model. These work for me, mainly because of the high volume construction (particularly over the toes) and the non-walled outsole. This allows extra space for my feet to not feel squished.

Jenon Leather – We already know and love the Jenon Villet, but they also make boots! Jenon has a fan-shaped cut that is extra wide in the toes but slim around the heel. This boot is offered in 3 calf widths. They are medium volume, and will probably be tight on high volume feet but can stretch with use.

Softstar Shoes – Handmade boots from Softstar have really soft uppers and extra wide toe boxes if you choose the Wide width. The new Astria boot shown here, has zippers on the inside and outside of the ankle so they’re really easy to put on.
Because these are made without a shoe last, the toe boxes tend to be shallow. You can stuff them yourself to stretch, or request Softstar to stretch them for you.
