It was in 2019 that I ordered a pair of shoes from Crupon Sandals to see if they would work for my feet. I was immediately smitten – Stunning craftsmanship, perfect rustic look, naturally dyed chrome free leather that feels great on your skin, a sustainable slow fashion model using traditional shoe-making techniques. Like I said. SMITTEN.
But the shape of the toe box was narrow for me and as my feet have gotten stronger over time I wasn’t able to wear them comfortably. So I was thrilled when Crupon Sandals wanted to work together on a new sole for their shoes. Together we designed a sole with a more natural foot shape, and now the majority of their shoes are in the Barefoot Collection!

Every pair of Crupon sandals is made from a gorgeous vegetable tanned leather from Italy and hand stitched by Dimitar and Yana (owners and shoemakers). Their barefoot sandals are all 6mm thick and very flexible.
I appreciate Crupon’s dedication to slow, ethical fashion. Besides the earth-friendly materials, all shoes are made-to-order to prevent waste. When you hold a pair of Crupon Sandals you can see and feel immediately the blend of quality & beauty.
And they last too! I have worn mine traveling in Europe and they held up like a dream.
The way they are sewn also ensures Crupon Sandals can be repaired and resoled should you ever need! I haven’t had to do this yet, but I am glad that I won’t ever need to throw these away.

Crupon Sizing & Fit
All models in the barefoot collection are made with a foot-shaped sole that is meant to give space for the toes to lay flat.
Their main collection is best suited for average and wide feet, but not extra wide. But they do make a select few of their most popular models in Extra Wide! You can request them to be made in any color. Samantha is our lovely extra wide, high volume foot model here and she is thrilled with her wide Crupons.
Crupon sandals also:
- Run slightly large (but most people still get their usual size).
- Tend to fit medium & high volume feet best.
- Have a sloped mountain shape to them.

I have a low volume foot, and in several of the models I’ve found that there is extra space above my foot. I solve this either with some moleskin under the straps, or this little adhesive insert. Another pro tip if you’re concerned about your sandals being flopping is to choose the models with an enclosed heel as opposed to the models with an open heel (eg Nomade, instead of Nomade Light) because they fit more securely. For me this makes a big difference!
I also want to note that the leather is very high quality and strong, so it does take a bit of breaking in. If you are someone who likes a lot of breathing room off the bat I recommend the Nomade, Breeze, and Monstera models. But my personal favorites are Trevi, Fida, and Abbie! They fit securely on my low volume feet while still providing enough toe space.
And if you have narrow feet, Crupon’s standard sandals are a good choice for that.
Crupon Sandals Barefoot Shape vs Standard Shape
If you have a slim foot, you may prefer Crupon’s standard shape shoes. They are still available on their website, so if the barefoot and wide barefoot versions look to be too wide for you, you can always go with standard.
Styling Crupon Sandals
Style is what drew me to Crupon in the first place. They’ve got a rustic, vintage, and bohemian aesthetic that is both unique and reminiscent. Looks like that never go out of style! I love Crupon Sandals to replace clogs, Saltwater sandals, Birkenstocks, and other timeless brands in my closet.
Ordering from Crupon Sandals
Crupon Sandals is based in Bulgaria and everything is made to order. They usually ship within a few days of ordering, but during peak season it can take longer. You can choose between standard shipping (4-10 days) and DHL Express (1-3 days), so altogether it’s a pretty fast turn around for a slow fashion product. Returns and exchanges are accepted on shoes from the barefoot and standard collection, but not on custom one-of-a-kind orders.
Crupon Sandals are the Whole Package
If you’ve been around here a while you know I love to combine foot health with my other passions: supporting small businesses, sustainable manufacturing, and good style. Crupon is a marriage of all of these things!
Dimitar and Yana are thrilled to be able to offer their craftsmanship to us in the barefoot shoe crowd, and we are thrilled to have them.

Hey Anya 😊 you mention in this review that if we have more narrow feet that perhaps the croupon standard style would be best. I had tried some buckle sandals last year but returned because they seemed like the base was too much for the bottom of my heel and that my foot slid out the front even on the tightest buckle. The pattern of the next size down seems like I’d risk my toes hanging off the front lol. I guess I am between sizes or I might qualify as narrow. My question is does the company make their standard shape in a flat and flexible sole? If so I might be willing to try again with their brand. Thank you in advance 🙏🏻❤️
It sounds to me like you have a low volume foot. Some of the models don’t tighten enough on low volume feet. The Trevi Barefoot model is one that works well for my low volume feet, and I also have good luck with the Nomad (not the Nomad light, that one my foot flops more).
I wear a 9 in a half what size I get
Hello! Cruupon has a very helpful size chart and printable templates we suggest using if you are unsure of your size.
Well, it doesn’t come much harder to fit than my low volume, very narrow heel, size 44-45 (US12)! As a standard I need a buckle, Velcro or laces to keep shoes/sandals for shoes to stay on my feet. Any suggestions much appreciated. Maybe I’ve missed a whole post you did just for hard to fit feet like mine??
I do have some FAQs on Fit Hacks for narrow heels & low volume feet, and on Barefootshoefinder.com you can search for options in your size range. But I can tell you right off the bat, that some brands that have pretty options that go that large and aren’t crazy high volume are Zaqq Barefoot, Mukishoes, & Peerko (because they consider them all to be unisex).
