Let’s dive into some fresh new looks for the style-inclined barefoot shoe wearer. (And keep an eye out for the next installment, because there is more to look forward to!)
Are you wishing you could try all the spring shoes on at once? Come to the Barefoot Shoe Expo. Many of these models will be there.
Crupon Sandals
Use code ANYA for 10% off.
Available starting today are 3 new styles of Crupon sandals, and some pretty new colors. And this weekend you can get free shipping, in addition to 10% off with my code! I am particularly excited about the Abbie (fisherman style, above left) – chunky sandals are really in right now.
Also new are two strappy sandals, Fida and Norma, each with an extra wide option (in black). The Norma (above right) is an updated version of the Hippie sandal, which I have worn and loved for the last couple years. So I am excited to see this added to the main inventory. Quality strappy sandals never go out of style.
I have some samples coming to me, so I will be sharing specific fit feedback on the new models soon! In the meantime, check out my previous reviews on Crupon to learn more about the fit and feel.
Wildling Spring
Use code AWN_ANYA_S for a one-time free shipping offer.
Wildling is bringing the color this spring! The Borba has an orange/pink butterfly print that is so cheery and fun, I couldn’t resist. And it’s ultra light and soft. I have a size 37 and they are roomy and wide fitting, but not extra wide.
And we are also loving the Lago model. In small kid’s sizes it has a fun blue outsole and velcro straps.
But the biggest news from Wildling this spring is their rain boot. Ranidae (rainy day, get it?) is I think the highest quality rain boot we’ve seen in barefoot shoes to date. The toe box is also quite generous without being excessively floppy. They do run on the big side over all – I tried both a 38 and a 37, because I wear a size 38 in a number of Wildling shoes. But in these the 37 is plenty big, and I can even fit in the new thick wool socks also launching tomorrow.
For those of you wondering if they’re extra wide friendly – Samantha tried them on and they fit her too! So great news all around. You can check out the other wide toe box rain boots on the market here.
Rain boot pro tip: Because rubber boots have to be wide enough to get your foot inside, heel slippage is common. I rectify this with stirrup socks!
Vega Espadrilles
Vega Barefoot has been around for a few seasons, and they tend to have really fun and pretty styles. They operate on a preorder basis, which isn’t my favorite (I wish I could try them on before I shared about them!), but I have been wanting an espadrille shoe just like the ones they are offering! I ordered a size 37 and will share more info when I get them, in case there are still any in stock.
Based on my experience with past models, the fit on their Barefoot width is pretty standard and will be best for average width fit. If you are looking for extra wide, they do have some nice models that come in a Barefoot Plus width (not the espadrilles though)!
The quality on these is also medium – they are a cheaper option compared to other high end barefoot dress shoes. It’s a pretty good deal for EU folks! But the shipping cost of 45 Euros to the US kind of canceled out the cheaper base price for me. Again, the style is unique and so pretty, so I still had to have them!
Shapen Playa
Available now is another espadrille style from Shapen – the Playa. This will come in beige and navy, in two widths! Shown above is Regular width, so Wide will be best for those with extra wide feet.
They are the understated but elegant, casual yet sophisticated style I love to elevate my everyday outfits. A more feminine slip-on.
You can use code ANYA5 for 5% off directly from Shapen. We will have them later this spring in the US at Anya’s Shop.
Origo Huarache Woven Mary Janes
Origo and I have been working hard on these basket weave flats and I am so excited about them!! They are delicate, they are elegant, they are comfortable. This is still an early preview, as they won’t be ready until around April. But I couldn’t keep it to myself!
In other huarache news – we have Huarache sandals in wide now, and will be adding a couple new colors to the line up. See my Huarache line with Origo shoes here, and use code ANYA for 10% off.
Mukishoes Clogs & Sandals
Mukishoes nailed it with the Soca and Nazare – they are 100% on point in terms of style and the materials are buttery soft and flexible. Even the colors are perfection. These also won’t be available for a few more weeks, but I know many of you are anxiously awaiting styles like this made barefoot friendly.
They are still coming to Mukishoes in the EU, where you can use code ANYAMUKI for 10% off.
In the meantime, they have other models from their spring collection already launched. You can view it here.

Any word on how wide foot friendly the Mukishoes clogs are?
The clogs are consistent with other Mukishoes, which means more average to wide width and not extra wide. The sandals are more adaptable to a wider shape because they can be loosened.
I’m not familiar with your friend, Samantha’s measurements. Would you be able to share her measurements so we can decide if the new rain boots are really extra wide? Thanks!
Samantha is a writer here and works with me closely, so you’ll see her name and her feedback come up often. Her feet measure 24cm long and 10.5cm wide on a foot tracing (remember width is proportional to length, so a longer foot at the same width might be average or even slim). She wears a size 38 typically.
Thank you so much! I have extra wide feet so I’ll have to look for shoes that fit her well!
Thanks for keeping us abreast of cool new styles but also socks! I’m excited to learn about the new Wildling merino wool socks and can’t wait to try a pair.
Love the Origo woven flats! They remind me of a pair of Topshop shoes I wore to death as a teenager. Will they work for extra wide feet (mine are 9.8cm)?
They do have more give to them than the Huaraches because of the open weave, but I would say they are not quite what I consider to be extra wide. Samantha is our reference for what is extra wide friendly, and these are a little too tight on her foot shape. At least in the regular width that is coming first – we may be able to release them in wide like we’ve done with the Huarache line!
Thanks for your reply. It would be really handy to know Samantha’s measurements as a reference point. I’ve only realised mine are ‘extra wide’ through a lot of trial and error, which is expensive when ordering from the UK!
Samanthat’s measure 24cm long and 10.5cm wide on a foot tracing, and she typically wears a size 38 (in extra wide fitting brands). Hope that helps!
So excited waiting for the new clogs and sandals
Thank you for all of your knowledge and reviews. I have been sending a lot of people to your reviews and shop. May I suggest that you, and your collaborators, always include your foot dimensions when writing reviews, as a point of reference. That would be really helpful. Again, thank you for all you do!!!
Anya, can you tell if there will be a new shade of brown, for the Huaraches? Looking to add to my collection!
Thanks, J
There is! We hope you love it 😀
I am loving those Basket Weave flats!!!
It’s interesting to see Wildling’s zero drop/barefoot (rain)boot with a “ladder cradle” – that space in boots in between the heel (raised in a conventional shoe) and the ball. That feature is helpful for work boots, hiking boots, horseback riding boots, etc., and are often not included in barefoot equivalents, with the reasoning that adding them eliminates the zero drop. I would love to see more barefoot shoes with ladder cradles – not only do they add more of a “conventional look” back to the shoe, but also serve a functional purpose of security. If zero drop can be done with a ladder cradle, I’d encourage more brands to look into doing so. Glad to see Wildling taking this step.
That is certainly an interesting idea. I think the outsole would need to be quite a bit thicker than it is to properly execute it and be safe. Something to think about for sure!
oooooo. I love those Origo Woven Flats! I’ve been wearing size 7 in the wide huaraches and the strappy Mary Janes. My feet are about 23.5 cm long and 9.8cm wide. Any idea if this version might fit or if I should wait to see there is a wide release?
Hi Erin! The new woven flats are made on the same last as the regular width Huaraches, but due to the weave structure and openness of the fit – they are a bit more forgiving so they might still work for you.
Soooo excited about those basketweave flats! 🙂
