The Complete List of Barefoot Dress Shoes for Women at Anya's Reviews dot com

One of the trickiest categories of barefoot shoes is the women’s dress shoe. As someone who doesn’t want to compromise on style OR foot health, this has been the area I’ve spent the most time researching. Here is my compilation of minimalist shoes you can wear to work or a night out, but are still completely flat, flexible and with a roomy toe box.

Barefoot Dress Boots

My personal favorites are from Zaqq, Angles Fashion, and Vivobarefoot!

Barefoot Oxfords/Chukkas

You can’t go wrong with this classy style, but with more space for your toes!

Barefoot Ballet Flats

I have a dedicated Ballet Flats post where I share my favorites!

Barefoot Mary Janes

Same ballet flat vibe, but with a strap for added security!

Barefoot Loafers

Check out this article for my list of 14 barefoot loafers

Barefoot Dressy Sandals

I have a dedicated list of all barefoot sandals here, and an Etsy finds list here with many dressy sandal options.

  1. Hello Anya
Thanks for this post. I was looking into the Zaqq flats but I can’t seem to understand their sizing. I looked at their sizing chart but didn’t find my size (6 us and 36 eu). The size chart has a conversion to UK size. Do they bot make shoes in 36?

    1. Hello! At Zaqq.com (the English site) sizes are automatically shown in UK sizing,a US size 6 is UK 4. So if you use the filter on the lefthand side you can search for just size 4. They make a good amount in that size, but most of the styles start at size 37 eu.

  2. Hi Anya! This is great, I’ve been looking for my first pair of barefoot shoes. I am aiming for really a one shoe to fit all occasions, but def. also office suitable. Can you tell me what the lace up shoes in the pic are? It looks like they can be worn under a dress, but also in the (Dutch) rain. Also, any tips for a first timer choosing a pair of barefoots? Thanks and keep going, Mandy

    1. Hi! So glad you’ve found the blog. The oxford shoes in this picture are from Zuzii. They are a great every day shoe that can pass as dressy, but they are suede and so won’t do well in heavy rain. The Vivobarefoot Fulham is a great dressy shoe that does excellently in rain. A simple ballet flat that you can waterproof would also be a good option, such as the Softstar ballerines. I have reviews of the Zuzii oxfords and Fulham boots, but haven’t tried the Softstar flats yet.
If you’re a first timer, I would try something you can return if they don’t fit right, and pay attention to how thick the soles are. Really thin soles can be a tough adjustment, so you want to consider thicker soles or possibly adding in an extra insole (such as NorthSole or Naboso insoles) for a little extra cushion. Best of luck!

  3. This is such an amazing resource! Thank you so much for complaining this list of amazing shoes. I thought switching to barefoot type shoes to save my feet would severely limit my options, but you have proven me wrong and I couldn’t be happier about it!

  4. FYI… I just checked out Crupon and they have ‘without the heel please’ as a drop down option now. Don’t even have to request it! 🙂 I’m ordering two pair, a pair of strappy sandals and the same trevi combo that you selected. Thanks for your info! Also, website is $20 less expansive than Etsy at the moment.

  5. Oh my goodness, what an expansive list! Thank you so much for putting this together! I am working on transitioning all my shoes to barefoot shoes so am looking for some good looking dress shoes to wear to work. Definitely saw several on this list that will be great additions to my wardrobe. Thank you!

  6. Hi! Do you have any recomendation for which brands of dress shoes would be best for walking long distances (up to 20 miles) on a daily basis? Thank you so much in advance 🙂

  7. Hi Anya,
Could you do a post on dressy shoes that have more of a professional/business profile? I’ve recently taken an administrative position that requires me to upgrade my wardrobe from business casual, and my shoes are a bit relaxed for the office. I’m having a hard time finding classic but truly fashionable styles (more than just your standard black ballet flats). Thanks!

    1. That one is always tough because the dress code varies so much between work places (and what’s stylish to one person isn’t to the other). Have you looked at this article on my top 10 women’s dress shoes? It covers a wide variety of styles, including several that are more elevated than a simple ballet flat.

  8. What brand are the first shoes under the Oxfords/Chukkas section? They’re black with tan laces and super cute!

  9. It seems the Faery Steps link is broken. I did an online search and found a website with the name Fairy Steps that makes barefoot shoes.
